Mr. Yasir Julian Eftekar, President
Mr. Eftekar is the Senior Vice President of Global Operations for the world’s largest movie and television performance rights organization. His professional expertise includes financial management, enterprise resource planning, business development, and strategic growth. Mr. Eftekar has been active on several boards promoting media and intellectual property, philanthropic service, and education. He is especially passionate about early education and building organizations that last. He is bolstered by three loud children, a devoted dog, and a very patient wife.
Mr. Frank Beuthin, Treasurer
Mr. Beuthin is an Executive Vice President at Willis, a worldwide knowledge-based insurance brokering firm providing risk management solutions, risk transfer expertise and specialized consulting services. In his role as an international insurance broker for US-domiciled Fortune 2000 clients, he is leading the design of client-specific risk transfer programs, global marketing & service implementation including the utilization of captives and other alternative risk transfer solutions. His specialty and expertise are in detailed risk analysis, international insurance and reinsurance placements for multi-layered risks. As the Manager of the Willis Los Angeles Risk Management Property Department, Mr. Beuthin is also part of the Los Angeles Office Executive Management Team. Further, in his role as the National Property Practice Leader for California, he is a senior member on Willis’ National Property Practice Team. Mr. Beuthin holds the business degree of Diplomkaufmann from Technische Universität, Berlin, Germany.
Ms. Rebecca MacLaren, Secretary
Ms. MacLaren is a parent representative on the Board of Trustees. In addition to being a proud GICS parent, she is an attorney in Los Angeles representing individuals and firms of all sizes in litigated disputes and regulatory matters. She is known for her ability to crack deadlocked positions and facilitate solutions that preserve resources and careers. Ms. MacLaren received her undergraduate degrees in History and Sociology from the University of San Francisco, and her Juris Doctor from Santa Clara University.
Dr. Pete Goldschmidt, Trustee
Dr. Goldschmidt is a professor in the College of Education at California State University Northridge, where he teaches graduate courses in statistics, research methods, and program evaluation. His expertise includes advanced methods in quasi-experimental analyses and longitudinal modeling that he applies to program, teacher, and school evaluations. Dr. Goldschmidt serves on several state technical committees to provide guidance for the development and implementation of statewide assessment, school accountability, and educator effectiveness systems. Dr. Goldschmidt received a Ph.D. in Social Research Methods from the University of California, Los Angeles.
Ms. Denise Pyeatt, Trustee
Denise Pyeatt is one of the two elected parent representatives on the Board of Trustees and has been a trusted member of the school community for seven years, two of which she has served as the Goethe Parent Association President, building community ties and advocating for transparency, collaboration and inclusivity. Born in Germany where she also earned her degree in International Business & Tourism Management, she is a strong proponent of the IB philosophy. Her professional expertise stems from over a decade in managing partner and supplier relationships, overseeing contract negotiations and developing new customer oriented programs.
