Middle Years Programme (MYP) Student Life

Middle school at Goethe International Charter School is a dynamic and engaging experience where students are encouraged to grow academically, socially, and personally. Through the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP), students build independence, explore their interests, and develop the skills needed to become confident, responsible learners.

Student life in the middle years extends beyond the classroom, offering meaningful opportunities to connect, lead, and engage with the school community. Students take part in traditions, events, and activities that make their experience both memorable and enriching.

Student Leadership

Middle school students are encouraged to take on leadership roles and share their voices within the school community. Leadership opportunities include Student Council, Student Advisory Council, and WEB Leaders (Where Everybody Belongs). Through these roles, students help support school spirit, represent their peers, and contribute to a positive and inclusive school culture.

Quarterly Social Events

One of the most popular highlights of the middle school experience at GICS is our quarterly social events. Held each quarter, these events give students the opportunity to relax, have fun, and build friendships outside of the classroom. Designed to strengthen community and school connection, quarterly socials create a welcoming space where students can enjoy activities, music, and time with their peers in a positive and inclusive environment.

School Spirit & Events

Throughout the year, students participate in pep rallies and other school-wide activities that build community, celebrate achievements, and strengthen school spirit. These experiences help students feel connected and proud to be part of the GICS community.

Field Trips & Experiential Learning

Field trips are an important part of the MYP experience, allowing students to connect classroom learning with real-world experiences. These opportunities encourage curiosity, exploration, and deeper understanding across subject areas.

Together, these experiences help shape a well-rounded middle school journey where students are challenged, supported, and inspired to grow into thoughtful and engaged members of their community.
