Every year by November 1, Goethe International Charter School applies to the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), requesting facilities for the following school year according to Proposition 39.
Since 2000, when Prop. 39 was approved by California’s voters and amended Education Code Section 47614, each school district must make available, to each eligible charter school operating in that district, facilities sufficient for the school to accommodate all of its in-district students.
Under Prop. 39, Goethe International Charter School co-locates on the campus of LAUSD's Marina del Rey Middle School at 12500 Braddock Drive. Our entrance is on the east side of the campus, on Westlawn Avenue.
Designed by renowned architect Paul Revere Williams, Marina del Rey Middle School opened on September 12, 1960 as a junior high school. The 21-acre campus on the Westside of Los Angeles is located about one mile inland from Marina del Rey's small-craft harbor, and adjacent to La Ballona Creek.
