Lottery Information & Forms

For the 2019-20 School Year, children born from September 2 through December, 2, 2014 are eligible for Transitional Kindergarten. Children born on or before September 1, 2014 are eligible for Kindergarten.

All applications received prior to the lottery deadline are included in the random, public lottery on April 9, 2019.

Applications with a preference have the eligibility of the preference verified. There are different preferences. Once the lottery for staff, founders and siblings is concluded, a weighted system is used for Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) residents and free or reduced-price lunch students. Non-LAUSD residents receive last preference.

A separate lottery drawing is held for each grade level.

Each name will be drawn. After all seats have been filled in a grade level, the names will be placed on the wait list in the order they were drawn. Once the last name has been pulled, the lottery is officially concluded.

Within three business days of the conclusion of the lottery, families of students that were selected are notified by email and/or phone. Families have four calendar days to accept or reject the offer of a spot for their child to become a student at Goethe International Charter School (GICS). The offer of a spot must be formally accepted by completing and returning the enrollment acceptance letter. A completed enrollment acceptance letter must be on file in the school office in order to protect a spot.

Applications received after the deadline will not be processed for the lottery. These applications are placed at the bottom of the wait list, after the lottery, in first-come, first-served order.
