Athletic Clearance & Eligibility
Participation in athletics at Goethe International Charter School is a privilege and an opportunity to represent our school with integrity, commitment, and sportsmanship. To ensure the safety and eligibility of all student-athletes, every student must complete the athletic clearance process before participating in any practices, tryouts, or competitions.
Please review the requirements below prior to the start of each athletic season.
Athletic Clearance
All student-athletes are required to complete the school's Athletic Clearance process before participating in any athletic activity.
To participate in the Fall or Spring Sports Program, students must have a valid athletic clearance for the 2026–27 school year (please see the information below). Families are encouraged to complete the athletic clearance process and schedule their student's physical during the summer to avoid delays once registration opens.
Required forms and documentation must be submitted and approved before a student may attend tryouts, practices, or games.
Required:
- Completed Athletic Clearance Form
- Current physical examination
Eligibility Requirements
Students must maintain the following throughout the season:
- Regular school attendance (96% or higher attendance rate)
- Academic standing (grades of C or higher in all subjects)
- Satisfactory or Outstanding citizenship grades
Student Conduct
Student-athletes serve as ambassadors of GICS and are expected to demonstrate respectful behavior, responsibility, and good sportsmanship both on and off campus. Participation in athletics is contingent upon maintaining positive conduct consistent with the school's expectations and Student Handbook.
Photo & Media Awareness
Throughout the school year, Goethe International Charter School celebrates student achievements by capturing photos and videos during athletic events, practices, and competitions. These images may be used in school publications, on the GICS website, social media platforms, newsletters, promotional materials, and other school communications.
By participating in athletics, families acknowledge that school-approved media may be captured in accordance with the permissions provided through the school's media release policies.
