Compliance Statement
The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) Charter School Division (CSD) conducts yearly performance-based oversight for all LAUSD authorized charter schools. The CSD observes and monitors our school’s performance in view of state and federal law, LAUSD policy and our school’s charter.

Keeping Parents Informed: Charter Transparency
Goethe International Charter School (GICS) is an independent public charter school governed by a Board of Trustees and authorized by the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). On January 12, 2016, the LAUSD Board approved a resolution, "Keeping Parents Informed: Charter Transparency".

This resolution highlights information that public charter schools share with parents, as written in the Charter Petition, School Accountability Report Card, Local Control & Accountability Plan, Audited Financial Statements and the Parent/Student Handbook. This information is available for GICS on the website.

Parents may request this information in English or any single primary language meeting the requirements of Sections 45400 through 45403 of the California Education Code. Please submit public record requests for translated information to the GICS Administrative Office.

Charter Term and Authorization

Goethe International Charter School (GICS) operates under a six-year charter term authorized by the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). As a tuition-free public charter school, this multi-year authorization reflects our commitment to maintaining high academic performance, fiscal accountability, and operational excellence.

The charter document serves as our operational blueprint, outlining our dual-language German-English immersion program, governance structure, and measurable student outcomes in strict alignment with California Education Code requirements. A full, downloadable copy of our approved Charter Petition and related renewal documentation is accessible below for transparency and public review.
